Ethiopia

Ethiopia is officially called the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.  

​

It is a landlocked country located in the Horn of Africa. The capital and largest city is Addis Ababa.

​

The official language is Amharic.

​

The president, a woman, is Sahle-work Zewde. The prime minister is Abiy Ahmed Ali. The prime minister is the head of government and chief executive of Ethiopia. He is the most powerful figure in Ethiopian politics and commander in chief of the Ethiopian Armed Forces. The official residence of the prime minister, is Menelik Palace in Addis Ababa.

The total area of Ethiopia counts 1,104,300] km2 and has an estimate population of 109,224,414 people (2018).

​

A majority of the population 62,8% is Christian (Ethiopian Orthodox church), 33,9% people is Islamic, 2,6% adhere to traditional faiths and 0,7% adhere to others.

Jimma 

Jimma in the largest city in the Ethiopian region of Oromiya with a population of 159,000 people. 

​

The city is a 55-minute flight from the capital.

​

Jimma University teaching Hospital (JUTH) is one of the oldest public hospitals in the country. It is the only teaching and referral hospital in the southwestern part of the country, providing services for approximately 15,000 inpatient, 160,000 outpatient attendants, 11,000 emergency cases and 4500 deliveries in  a year coming to the hospital from the catchment population of about 15 million people.
